bitterlemons.org email subscriptions

Some of our subscribers have experienced interruptions in their email service or had trouble subscribing and unsubscribing from our weekly email editions. Below you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about bitterlemons.org mailings:

I can't read the bitterlemons.org emails. What can I do to fix this problem?

If you are subscribed to the Bitterlemons English List, you have signed up to receive an HTML document that includes some special coding. To receive a plain text version legible to all email programs, you should unsubscribe to this list, and resubscribe to the Bitterlemons English Text list. See our homepage at www.bitterlemons.org.

Since March 2003, I have not received any bitterlemons mailings. What happened?

In March 2003, bitterlemons.org experienced the loss of its subscriber lists due to sabatoge. While we were able to retrieve most of your email addresses, some recent subscribers may have fallen through the cracks. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope that you will subscribe once again through the homepage, www.bitterlemons.org.

How do I remove myself from the bitterlemons.org mailing list?

There are three ways to stop receiving emails from bitterlemons.org. At the bottom of each email you receive, there is a web address that you may click to automatically unsubscribe yourself. Sometimes, the address is on two lines. In order for this method to work, you must include the entire address, including what falls on a second line.

Another way of gaining access to our lists is through the main website at www.bitterlemons.org. To unsubscribe this way, you must insert the same address to which you originally subscribed.

Finally, if none of the above works for you, you may write to us at bitterlemons@bitterlemons.org.

I am sure I am subscribed, but sometimes I do not receive the email edition. What can I do?

Periodically, bitterlemons.org has been mistakenly listed on websites that are intended to catch annoying spam. NOTE: bitterlemons.org emails are not spam. We do everything in our power to make sure that our subscribers want to be on our list. We do not fit the "legal" definition of spam, as defined by United States law. However, either by mistake or through intentional sabotage, bitterlemons' emails have been disrupted when what are known as "blackhole" sites have intercepted our messages to you.

If you notice that you have not received your bitterlemons email for the week, this may be the problem. You may either subscribe again through another address, or you may consult your email provider about how to stop your server from blocking our emails.

We are working to track those who are registering bitterlemons.org with various blackhole sites.

I am subscribed to the Hebrew or Arabic edition of bitterlemons.org, but when I receive the email, it is illegible.

In order to use either service, subscribers must have their email program set to read Hebrew or Arabic script. Bitterlemons.org sends these emails as a specially-coded html document that cannot be read by email programs that do not automatically read html attachments.
